Residenza La Vecchia Vigna Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Residenza La Vecchia Vigna, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical three-star hotel. The name literally means “The Old Vineyard,” and honestly, it feels like stepping into someone’s carefully restored family estate rather than a commercial property. Located on Via Villa in a quieter residential area of Verona, the building has this understated elegance that I found refreshing after dealing with some of the more touristy spots closer to the arena. You know what really caught my attention? The fact that they offer free parking — which, if you’ve ever tried to park in Verona’s historic center, you’ll understand is practically worth its weight in gold.
Location & Getting Around
The location strikes that perfect balance between being accessible and peaceful. You’re about a 15-minute walk from Juliet’s balcony and the main tourist attractions, but far enough away that you won’t hear groups of tourists chattering outside your window at dawn. I actually preferred this setup — it meant I could easily walk into the centro storico for dinner and sightseeing, then retreat to this quieter neighborhood in the evenings. The area feels authentically Italian, with local cafes and small shops that cater more to residents than visitors. Plus, if you’re planning day trips to Lake Garda or the Valpolicella wine region, the location makes getting out of the city much easier than if you were staying right in the historic center.
The Rooms & Comfort
My room had this lovely blend of traditional Italian charm and modern functionality that you don’t always find in smaller properties. The furnishings felt thoughtfully chosen rather than just ordered from a hotel catalog — there were nice touches like quality linens and what appeared to be locally sourced artwork on the walls. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, with good water pressure (always a concern in older Italian buildings). I mean, it’s not going to wow you with cutting-edge amenities, but everything worked perfectly and felt clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was effective during my summer visit, which honestly made all the difference after long days exploring Verona’s sun-baked piazzas.
Service & Atmosphere
The staff here operates more like hosts than hotel employees, which creates this welcoming atmosphere that couples seem to particularly appreciate — and I can see why the property gets high marks from romantic travelers. They’re genuinely helpful with restaurant recommendations and can point you toward some excellent local spots that aren’t overrun with tour groups. The overall vibe is relaxed and personal; you’ll likely see the same faces each day, and they’ll remember your preferences. It’s the kind of place where you feel like a temporary local rather than just another guest checking boxes on a Verona itinerary.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Residenza La Vecchia Vigna apart is how it manages to feel both authentic and comfortable without trying too hard. The combination of free parking, peaceful location, and genuine Italian hospitality creates an experience that feels more valuable than what you’d typically expect from a three-star property. It’s particularly well-suited for travelers who want to experience Verona at a more relaxed pace — you can explore the city’s highlights during the day, then return to this tranquil base where you can actually unwind and plan your next adventure over a glass of local Amarone.
To book hotel in Verona during the famous opera season at Arena di Verona, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts romance seekers and culture enthusiasts from around the world.

Reviews of Residenza La Vecchia Vigna
Kadic from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 2 April 2025 (9/10)
Everything was as described. The kitchen has everything, breakfast is ok (milk, tea, coffee, croissants, fruit, toast, butter, jam, cookies) The kitchen has all the necessary amenities. We had a coffee machine at our disposal all the time and that's great, I don't like that we have to fill out the registration form, it's ok, it's a few sentences and it's not right that the parking in front of the apartment is charged 7 euros per day (please remove it and include it in the price). The bed is very comfortable, and the owner came every day and brought us more towels, which we didn't miss. Rating 9 because of the parking otherwise it would have been 10. A few kilometers (2km to 3km) from the city it was peaceful and quiet.

Clean and very good every thing 👍

The room met our requirements as a family of 5 with the owners making provision for us. It had all the necessary provisions for a tourist traveller.
What could be improved: Location slightly away from the central tourist area but easily accessible by bus.Pete from United States – 12 September 2024 (9/10)
Very cozy and comfortable, out of the busy area so nice and quiet
What could be improved: Nothing really, all goodSheryl from Ireland – 10 September 2024 (8/10)
Spacious bedroom and huge bathroom!
Good contact from host.
Breakfast was plentiful
What could be improved: It’s definitely a good hour walk from train station, and 30 min walk from city.
Other than that, it was good.Matyas from Hungary – 28 July 2024 (9/10)
The owner was very helpful. The apartment is spacious and well equipped and the breakfeast was prepared in the room. Great experience!
Freya from Ireland – 25 May 2024 (9/10)
The beds were very comfortable and the owner was always available if we needed anything. The breakfast was self service with a coffee machine and a fully stocked fridge.
What could be improved: This has nothing to do with the property, only that if you're planning on staying here, know that it's quite a walk from the train station. Apart from that it's definitely good value for money!Simona from Romania – 4 May 2024 (8/10)
Good place for a night in Verona. Bus station was close ( few minutes away) and also some shops or restaurants ( 10 minutes by foot).
Room was big and comfortable. Breakfast was already on the table when we arrived in the afternoon, so we could even have a bite until dinner. Communication very clear with the owner.
What could be improved: It wasn’t that we didn’t like but parking inside for bigger cars is a bit tricky. We made it finally.Anaszh from Saudi Arabia – 7 August 2023 (9/10)
Very nice and clean apartment, the location is very good, there is air conditioning, the breakfast is limited but delicious, the host is helpful
Neil from United Kingdom – 9 December 2022 (9/10)
Plenty of space, coffee machine always available, very quiet neighborhood
What could be improved: A long way out of town, unreliable bus service especially on 8th December (an Italian holiday), very few amenities locally
