Residenza Leoncino Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Residenza Leoncino feels like discovering a well-kept secret tucked into one of Verona’s most charming cobblestone streets. The building itself has that understated Italian elegance — you know, the kind where the beauty is in the details rather than flashy displays. What struck me immediately was how quiet Via Leoncino manages to be despite being right in the thick of everything. It’s one of those rare finds where you get the authentic neighborhood feel without sacrificing proximity to the main attractions.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location here is pretty much unbeatable for a three-star property. You’re literally a five-minute stroll from Juliet’s House and maybe eight minutes from the Arena di Verona — I actually timed it because I’m that kind of traveler. The street itself runs parallel to Via Mazzini, which means you can duck into the main shopping area whenever you want, but you’re not dealing with the constant foot traffic and noise. There’s a lovely little cafe just around the corner where locals grab their morning espresso, and I found myself becoming a regular during my stay.
The Rooms
The accommodations at Residenza Leoncino have this refined, residential feel that makes you forget you’re in a hotel. My room had original hardwood floors and these gorgeous high ceilings that you just don’t see in newer properties. The furnishings strike a nice balance between traditional Italian style and modern comfort — nothing too fancy, but everything feels thoughtfully chosen. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, with excellent water pressure (always a concern in historic buildings). What I really appreciated was the attention to soundproofing; despite being in the city center, I slept remarkably well.
Daily Experience
The staff here operates more like a boutique guesthouse than a traditional hotel, which honestly works in their favor. They’re incredibly knowledgeable about Verona and seem genuinely invested in making sure you experience the city like a local rather than just another tourist. I mean, they pointed me toward this incredible osteria that I never would have found on my own — the kind of place where you’re the only non-Italian in the room. The common areas are minimal but elegant, and there’s something refreshing about a property that doesn’t try to be everything to everyone.
Why Guests Love It
What makes Residenza Leoncino special is how it captures that authentic Veronese living experience while keeping you connected to everything the city offers. Couples especially seem drawn to the romantic atmosphere — and with that location score of 9.7 for two-person trips, it’s easy to see why. You can walk to dinner at some of Italy’s most romantic restaurants, catch an opera at the Arena, and still feel like you’re staying in a real neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay, not because it’s the fanciest option available, but because it just feels right.
Hotels near me in Verona offer convenient access to the city center, where guests can easily walk to Juliet’s Balcony, Piazza delle Erbe, and authentic Italian trattorias.

Reviews of Residenza Leoncino
Emma from United Kingdom – 12 March 2025 (8/10)
Everything was great, a lovely big room with towels, hairdryer, toiletries & coffee machine (Room 2). Communication with the owner was also great through WhatsApp and the check in / check out process was easy. Very close to the Arena with lots of restaurants nearby, walking distance to the train station too.
What could be improved: Noise from the road was very loud during the night, we live in central london so used to traffic noise but we woke up a lot from passing cars & even people walking by talking. Not the properties fault but worth mentioning for any light sleepers.
Perhaps also needs so extra pegs to hang towels.Garcia from Colombia – 12 March 2025 (9/10)
