Residenza Veronica a Ponte Pietra Overview
You know what struck me first about Residenza Veronica a Ponte Pietra? The name isn’t just some marketing gimmick – you’re literally steps away from one of Verona’s most stunning ancient Roman bridges. I mean, when you step out the front door, Ponte Pietra is right there, and honestly, it never gets old watching the Adige River flow underneath those weathered stone arches that have somehow survived since the 1st century BC.
The building itself has this wonderful lived-in elegance that you don’t find in chain hotels. It’s got that 4-star polish without feeling stuffy or overly formal – more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place who happens to have excellent taste. The rooms are thoughtfully designed with modern touches that actually work (thank goodness, because we’ve all been in those boutique places where the beautiful lighting is completely useless for reading). What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even though you’re in the heart of the historic center. The old stone walls do their job of keeping street sounds at bay, which matters because Verona can get pretty lively, especially during opera season at the Arena.
Speaking of location – and I try not to throw around “convenient location” like every other travel writer – but this spot is genuinely special. You’re a pleasant five-minute walk from Piazza delle Erbe through those narrow medieval streets that feel like stepping back in time. The morning light hits the river perfectly from here, and I actually found myself getting up earlier just to catch it (which, if you know me, is saying something). There’s a little café around the corner that locals frequent – nothing fancy, just proper espresso and cornetti that’ll ruin you for hotel breakfast pastries forever. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s one of those places that gets the details right without making a big show of it. The staff genuinely seems to care about Verona as a city, not just their little corner of it, so they’ll point you toward the lesser-known viewpoints and the restaurants where actual Veronese people eat. Honestly, after staying here, walking back across Ponte Pietra in the evening with the old Roman theater glowing on the hillside – it’s the kind of moment that makes you understand why people fall hard for this city.

Could not have hoped for a better stay in Verona! The host gave us great instructions over phone, helped to a parking garage nearby. The apartment itself was clean and functional and all in all everything was very smooth. The location is phenomenal (see my photos uploaded) as you get a direct view from both bedrooms to the river and city. Restaurants and all the events of the busy city are near. You can also make food in the kitchen which will be important for a longer vacation. I will book again next time I'm in Verona!

The location is excellent with fantastic views from the property over Verona. The staff from the letting company were also very helpful and responsive
What could be improved: Firstly, I stress that **Nicola from the letting company was excellent.**
However, we rented the apartment when the temperature was really high (35C-38C). Because of this heat the Aircon struggled to cope. Plus one of the bedrooms, which is not separated from the living area, did not have Aircon. Also due to the heat the terrace was not usable for most of the day.
The other issue is that is not really enough comfortable seating in the living area – only enough space on the sofa for 3 people.
Lastly the apartment is on the top of the building (3rd floor, 66 steps) – which in high heat is difficult.
Again, great location and lovely people – just not quite perfect in the high heat of summer for 4 people.Sylvie from Belgium – 26 July 2024 (10/10)
