You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from River House when I first pulled up – it’s one of those places that doesn’t scream luxury from the outside, but honestly, that turned out to be part of its charm. This 3-star spot has this understated, almost residential feel that grew on me pretty quickly. The moment you walk through the front doors, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s hard to find in busier hotels.

The staff here actually seem to care about what they’re doing, which I mean, sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is these days. Check-in was smooth – no unnecessary upselling or corporate scripts, just genuine helpfulness. My room had this lovely view that I didn’t even know to expect, and the bed was honestly one of those where you sink in just right without feeling like you’re being swallowed whole. The bathrooms are clean and well-maintained (I always check the grout – weird habit, I know), and there’s decent water pressure, which matters more than people realize after a long day of exploring.

What really sets River House apart though is the attention to those little details that make you feel at home rather than just passing through. The common areas have this lived-in quality without being worn down, if that makes sense. I spent quite a bit of time in their lounge area just reading and people-watching, and you could tell other guests felt comfortable doing the same. The neighborhood itself is pretty quiet in the evenings – I’m a light sleeper so I was worried about street noise, but it wasn’t an issue at all. Parking was straightforward too, which honestly saved me a headache since I hate circling around looking for spots. The 8.7 rating this place has earned makes total sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. I’d definitely come back, especially since the value for money is spot-on for what you get.

  The location of the flat was excellent, everything in the old town was reachable on foot within 15 minutes. The flat itself was big enough to comfortably host 5 adults. Before check in Martina send me very detailed information about how to get the keys and check in, she even included a video that walked us through the steps. It was lovely!
  
  What could be improved: One bathroom for 5 adults was sometimes a bit difficult but with a bit of planning ahead we made it work.

  The house is quite dark which is a huge plus when it is more than 30 degrees outside, just 3 min walk and you are in the center, comfortable beds, in the kitchen all we needed, coffee and coffee maker included. Near the shop, bakery, ice cream and beautiful castle. Very nice, helpful host. Replying fast is help is needed. We parked the car outside the house to take luggage and then parked it 15 min walk in public parking. I fully recommend it!

  The localization is perfect: close to many highlights but with reasonable distance from the over-crowded zones. Supermarket just crossing the street. Very beautiful view in the back of the building. Kitchen reasonably well-equipped. Useful maps available. Quick responses from the host by SMS, Gmail and WhatsApp.

  The location was superb, so close to the Arena for the opera and other key sites. Giulia and Nicolo were communicative and caring hosts. When I accidentally damaged an appliance , they were so kind and gracious, which I really appreciated. The bedrooms were big, and the building's security was excellent. Highly recommended.

  Instructions were sent clearly by a video message so we used a taxi from the airport to collect the keys from the box then take us to the apartment, costly but very easy! We were attending a concert in the arena and it was a simple 10 minute stroll from the flat. Lots of bars and restaurants to chose from and a small supermarket just across the road. Host was very friendly and helpful in getting us a taxi for our departure, you can't flag them down on the street!
  
  What could be improved: No lounge area with sofa, just a table and chairs in the kitchen and in one bedroom.

  The location is very centralised which takes you to the city centre and tourist attractions by foot. Local shops, restaurants and grocery store are also within the vicinity of the apartment.
  
  What could be improved: Since it's centralised, it can be too noisy during the evening especially friday and saturday because of people passing by. The apartment has this distinct smell which you can smell when you enter but you can always open the windows to ventilate the rooms or it would be nice to put some diffuser.
