Romeo Design Rooms Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Romeo Design Rooms on Via Leone Gaetano Patuzzi, you immediately get that “hidden gem” feeling — you know, when you stumble across something special that most tourists probably walk right past. This three-star boutique property sits right in Verona‘s historical center, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has this understated elegance that fits perfectly with the medieval streets around it, without trying too hard to be flashy.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally in the heart of everything, but it doesn’t feel touristy or overwhelming. The couples who stay here consistently rave about the location (they rate it 9.9, which is pretty incredible), and I get why. You can walk to Juliet’s balcony in about three minutes, hit the Arena di Verona in five, and there are these amazing little wine bars tucked into the surrounding alleys that you’d never find if you were staying further out. The Piazza delle Erbe market is right around the corner, which means fresh produce and local cheese if you want to grab snacks, plus some of the best people-watching in the city.
The Room Experience
The design element really shows once you get to your room — each one has this modern, minimalist vibe that somehow works perfectly with the historic building. What really impressed me though was the bed situation. I mean, they actually have a reputation for incredibly comfortable beds, and it’s not just marketing speak. After walking around Verona’s cobblestone streets all day, you’ll appreciate sinking into something that supportive. The rooms aren’t huge (this is a historic building in Italy, after all), but they’re thoughtfully designed with clean lines and just enough character to remind you where you are.
Practical Considerations
Being in the historical center means you’re dealing with narrow streets and limited car access — something to keep in mind if you’re driving. But honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need a car anyway since everything worth seeing is walkable. The staff seems to really know their stuff about the local area, which is helpful when you want recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. They pointed me toward this tiny osteria about two blocks away that I never would have found otherwise, and it ended up being one of my favorite meals in Verona.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is how it balances being right in the thick of things without feeling like you’re staying in a tourist trap. The 8.7 rating reflects what you actually experience — solid comfort, great location, and that boutique hotel attention to detail without the boutique hotel prices. You’re paying for the location and the sleep quality, which honestly are the two things that matter most when you’re exploring a city like Verona. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that feels authentically connected to the city rather than just dropped into it.

This was a last minute decision to stay in Verona after the opera and we were so lucky to find the last available room in this little gem.
Only a very short walk to the arena (you can see it at the end of the road)
Sylvia was so accommodating, she replied to our questions quickly and although she doesn't live on site, she met us at lunch time and our room was available straight away!
The room was a good size, a lovely powerful shower, the bed was comfortable and it was all very clean. Simply furnished, no flashy extras.
Coffee and tea were available in a guest area, and there was a pleasant outside courtyard with shaded seating.
We were even able to leave our backpack the following day while we went sightseeing.
What a find. Thank you Sylvia

Warm welcome, the most convenient location you could ask for just steps from the arena and City Center, while situated on a quiet street. Very clean, quiet, comfortable, perfect minimalist stay for easy travel. Sylvia is over the top helpful in every way with any help navigating or coordinating your stay. Highly recommend and will stay again.
Sonja from Australia – 3 June 2024 (9/10)
It’s super close to the heart of town, The Arena is right at the end of the street, 20 steps from the front door. Everything is within walking distance. Silvia is exceptional & a pleasure to communicate with. There is no refrigeration facilities, but I was never in my room to bother. You won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely perfect location for sightseeing, going to the opera & eating. If you need somewhere close to the Arena you will not go wrong with staying here. The opera finished at 1am & I was back at my location, washed & in bed ready to sleep by 1.20am just perfect. The rooms are well appointed, very clean, comfy bed & a nice bathroom all you need.
