Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to Truly Verona after a long drive from Lake Garda—honestly, the traffic in Verona can be a nightmare during summer, with all those tour buses clogging the bridges over the Adige River. But once I navigated the narrow streets of the historical center, there it was, tucked away on a quiet corner just off Via Cappello, you know, that pedestrian stretch leading right to Juliet’s House. It’s not one of those flashy spots screaming for attention; instead, it’s this charming four-star hideaway that feels like it’s been part of the neighborhood forever. The facade blends right in with the old stone buildings—sort of weathered pinkish hues that catch the afternoon sun beautifully. Check-in was a breeze; the staff, mostly locals with that warm Veronese accent, handed over my key with a quick chat about where to grab the best gelato nearby (spoiler: it’s Gelateria Ponte Pietra, just a five-minute stroll across the river). I mean, parking’s the usual hassle in the centro storico—no on-site spots, so you’ll want to snag a spot in the underground lot at Piazza Cittadella and walk the rest, but it’s worth it for how central everything is.
Stepping into my room, I was hit with that cozy, authentic Italian vibe—think exposed wooden beams overhead and terracotta floors that stay cool even in July’s heat. It wasn’t massive, well, sort of compact like a lot of these historic conversions, but the bed was plush, with crisp linens that smelled faintly of lavender (they must use some local soap or something). The bathroom had this rainfall shower that was a godsend after wandering the cobblestone streets all day—my feet were killing me from trekking to the Arena di Verona, which is literally a 10-minute walk away. You can hear the faint hum of opera rehearsals drifting over in the evenings if you’re there during festival season, adding this magical layer to the stay. Breakfast was another highlight—served in a sunny courtyard where birds chirp away, with fresh cornetti, local cheeses, and espresso strong enough to wake the dead. Oh, and a minor gripe: the Wi-Fi dipped a bit in the afternoons when everyone logs on, but hey, who needs screens when you’re steps from Piazza delle Erbe’s market stalls, bustling with vendors hawking Amarone wine and olive oils? The place is spotless, though, and the night staff even tipped me off about avoiding the tourist traps for dinner—head to Osteria del Bugiardo instead, hidden down a side alley.
All in all, if you’re chasing that real Verona experience without the chain-hotel sterility, Truly Verona nails it. It’s got a solid 9 rating for a reason—value-wise, for a four-star in such a prime spot, it’s a steal, especially off-season when the crowds thin out and you can actually hear the church bells from San Zeno without the din. I left feeling like I’d uncovered a local secret, and yeah, I’d book it again in a heartbeat for that blend of history, comfort, and those little touches that make you linger. Just pack light—those stairs to the upper floors can be a workout if the elevator’s occupied.

Lovely apartment in Verona.
Great aircon as it was very hot when we were there
Comfy beds
Nice lounge area
Able to get Netflix!
What could be improved: Light in the hallway came on automatically. It is a good idea but actually was annoying if one of you was asleep. (That is a nitpick!)Neil from Ireland – 3 April 2025 (10/10)
Lovely quiet apartment close to city centre

Amazing and big apartment in the heart of Verona. View to the Arena is breathtaking! No parking allowed around, but the public garage is not so far, as well as grocery store.
Close to all must see places in Verona. Great wine bar and shop with fresh lokal bread, cheese and meat across the street (you can see it from the window).
Helpful management and easy self check-in.
The only minus is the loud Cuban bar downstairs. They are trying to turn down the level of the music after 11 pm, but it doesn’t seem working.
