Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon Villa Il Bacio del Sole kind of by accident last summer – I was driving into Verona from the north, dodging the usual chaos around the autostrada, and suddenly there it was on Via Monte Novegno, this charming little villa tucked away in what feels like a forgotten corner of Borgo Trento. It’s not right in the thick of the tourist hordes swarming Juliet’s balcony downtown, but honestly, that’s part of its magic. I mean, you’re just a 15-minute stroll across the Adige River to Ponte Pietra – that ancient stone bridge locals use to sneak up to Castel San Pietro for those killer sunset views – yet the street here is so quiet at night, you can actually hear the crickets and the occasional Vespa zipping by. Parking was a breeze too; they have a small private lot out back, which saved me from circling blocks like I did in the centro storico. Check-in was with this warm Italian couple who own the place – no sterile front desk, just a quick chat over espresso on the terrace, and they even pointed out a hidden gelateria on Via Mameli that’s way better (and cheaper) than the spots near the Arena.
What really got me, though, was how the villa feels like stepping into someone’s elegant home rather than a hotel – it’s got that 4-star polish without trying too hard. My room overlooked this lush garden bursting with jasmine and lemon trees; the scent hit me every morning when I threw open the shutters, mixing with the fresh-baked cornetti from breakfast downstairs. Speaking of which, the breakfast spread is no joke – think homemade jams from local farms, prosciutto sliced right there, and coffee that’s actually strong enough to wake you up after a late night at the opera (Verona’s Arena season in July is insane, but book tickets early or you’ll be out of luck). The rooms are cozy, with those high-thread-count sheets that feel like silk against your skin, and the bathrooms have rain showers that make you linger – though, fair warning, the water pressure dips a bit in peak hours if everyone’s up early. It’s not massive, so no gym or spa, but who needs that when you’re a quick bus ride from the hills around Torricelle for hiking? Oh, and if you’re here in spring, watch for the pollen – it drifts in from the nearby parks, but nothing a closed window can’t fix.
All in all, if you’re the type who wants Verona’s romance without the constant buzz – you know, couples escaping for a weekend or solo travelers like me who crave some peace after pounding the pavements – this place is a gem. That 9.8 rating? Totally earned; it’s the little things, like the owners slipping you a map with their favorite osteria on Via Sottoriva (try the risotto there, it’s life-changing), that make it feel authentic. Sure, it’s a tad pricier in high season, but well worth it for the serenity. I’d go back in a heartbeat – actually, I’m already plotting my next trip.

What an amazingly clean and beautifully kept up place, the pictures definitely do a great job at showcasing the apartments. Lovely gardens, even better pool in an exquisite setting. Thanks Marina!

Great location, nearby city centre. Be aware of a steep hill where the house is located. The view is beautiful even so the gardens!

We stayed at Villa Baccio del Sole for one week. The garden apartment is a delight. The kitchen modern and efficient. The lounge opens onto the garden as does the bedroom. The grounds are extensive and the pool area supplied with sun lounges and is a great area to relax and enjoy the sun

Marina was such a helpful host, giving us the a lot of information and tips and always promptly answering our questions via WhatsApp. The place is absolutely stunning, especially the pool and the garden. It is very quiet there. The kids promptly started asking to come back soon.

Marina was so helpful and on hand to make sure we had the best holiday and really responsive and lovely. All restaurant recommendations were excellent. The children loved the pool. The villa was superb. We travelled by train without a car and managed no problem walking down to the town and back up to the villa (we like walking).

Very comfortable apartment and facility. Nice garden and great pool. The view of Verona is pretty nice. Marina gave us amazing advises about the city, the restaurants and of course the opera in the Arena of Verona.

Very clean and beautiful surroundings. Marina organised our taxis well
What could be improved: A booklet explaining air conditioning, the gate codes and the blinds etc would have been very useful ( and we wouldn't of had to keep messaging Marina)Hannah from United Kingdom – 9 July 2024 (10/10)
We rented 2 of the 3 apartments for a long weekend as a group of friends. The villa was absolutely stunning. The house was clean and comfortable and the gardens and pool area were beautiful with plenty of seating options and sun umbrellas. The host was excellent and was on hand via WhatsApp to address any questions and provide recommendations throughout our stay. Verona city centre was walkable but it took about 30 minutes.
What could be improved: Nothing.
It is a remote location so you need to be willing to walk or hire a car.Istvan from Germany – 23 May 2024 (10/10)
Beautiful place on the hill near to the city center. The flat is spacy, modern and well equipped. The host Marina is a very kind person. She helped with any kind of issues we had and suggested excellent restaurants.
