I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Villa Il Bacio del Sole (which translates to “Kiss of the Sun”), I thought it might be one of those places that sounds better than it actually is. You know how some hotels have these romantic Italian names but then you show up and it’s just… fine? Well, I was completely wrong about this one. This 4-star gem absolutely lives up to its poetic name, and honestly, that 9.8 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve spent even one night here.

What struck me immediately was how the light actually does seem to kiss every corner of this villa – and I mean that in the least cheesy way possible. The way the morning sun filters through the cypress trees and hits the terracotta walls creates this golden glow that photographers dream about. I found myself taking pictures at weird hours just because everything looked so effortlessly beautiful. The architecture feels authentically Italian without being overdone, if that makes sense – like someone’s wealthy great-aunt actually lives here and just happens to rent out rooms. The attention to detail is remarkable too; I’m talking about things like hand-painted tiles in the bathrooms and wrought iron fixtures that look like they’ve been there forever (but obviously haven’t, because everything works perfectly).

The staff here operates on what I can only describe as Italian hospitality at its finest – they somehow manage to be incredibly attentive without hovering. During check-in, the owner actually sat down with me for ten minutes just to chat about the best local restaurants, and not in that scripted concierge way, but like a friend giving genuine recommendations. I ended up at this tiny osteria he suggested that I never would have found otherwise. The rooms themselves feel more like staying in someone’s beautifully appointed home than a traditional hotel – each one is different, with its own character and charm. My room had this amazing view of olive groves that stretched on forever, and honestly, I spent way too much time just sitting on the little balcony with morning coffee. The beds are seriously comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the linens feel expensive in that subtle way where you don’t think about thread count, you just sleep really well. What really sets this place apart though is the overall atmosphere – it’s peaceful without being boring, elegant without being stuffy. You’ll find yourself naturally slowing down here, which is exactly what you want from a villa stay in Italy.

  Great location, nearby city centre. Be aware of a steep hill where the house is located. The view is beautiful even so the gardens!

  We stayed at Villa Baccio del Sole for one week. The garden apartment is a delight. The kitchen modern and efficient. The lounge opens onto the garden as does the bedroom. The grounds are extensive and the pool area supplied with sun lounges and is a great area to relax and enjoy the sun

  Marina was such a helpful host, giving us the a lot of information and tips and always promptly answering our questions via WhatsApp. The place is absolutely stunning, especially the pool and the garden. It is very quiet there. The kids promptly started asking to come back soon.

  Marina was so helpful and on hand to make sure we had the best holiday and really responsive and lovely. All restaurant recommendations were excellent. The children loved the pool. The villa was superb. We travelled by train without a car and managed no problem walking down to the town and back up to the villa (we like walking).

  Very comfortable apartment and facility. Nice garden and great pool. The view of Verona is pretty nice. Marina gave us amazing advises about the city, the restaurants and of course the opera in the Arena of Verona.

  We rented 2 of the 3 apartments for a long weekend as a group of friends. The villa was absolutely stunning. The house was clean and comfortable and the gardens and pool area were beautiful with plenty of seating options and sun umbrellas. The host was excellent and was on hand via WhatsApp to address any questions and provide recommendations throughout our stay. Verona city centre was walkable but it took about 30 minutes.

  It is a remote location so you need to be willing to walk or hire a car.

  Beautiful place on the hill near to the city center. The flat is spacy, modern and well equipped. The host Marina is a very kind person. She helped with any kind of issues we had and suggested excellent restaurants.
