Duomo apartment Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around cathedral squares, but Duomo apartment honestly caught me off guard in the best way possible. When you first walk up – and yeah, you’ll probably circle the block once trying to find the exact entrance like I did – there’s this immediate sense that you’ve stumbled onto something locals would actually choose for themselves. The building has that lived-in Italian elegance that you can’t fake, you know what I mean? Stone steps worn smooth by decades of foot traffic, and the kind of heavy wooden doors that make you feel like you’re entering someone’s family home rather than just another tourist rental.
What really got me was stepping inside and realizing how thoughtfully everything’s been set up. I mean, the kitchen actually works – and I’m talking about a proper espresso maker, not some sad hotel room coffee situation. The windows are massive, which you don’t always expect in these older buildings, and they frame views that shift throughout the day in this really beautiful way. Morning light hits differently than evening light, obviously, but here it actually transforms the whole space. The floors are this gorgeous terrazzo that stays cool even in summer heat, and honestly, after walking around cobblestones all day, your feet will thank you. There’s this attention to detail that suggests someone who actually lives in the area designed this place – proper blackout curtains (trust me, cathedral bells start early), outlets where you actually need them, and enough storage space that you can unpack and settle in properly.
The location thing is interesting because you’re right in the thick of everything, but the apartment itself feels like a genuine retreat from all that tourist energy. I stayed during peak season and while the streets below were buzzing with that constant hum of sightseers and street musicians, the apartment stayed surprisingly peaceful. The walls are thick – old Italian construction at its finest – and there’s something about the layout that just absorbs sound naturally. You can pop downstairs for morning pastries or evening aperitivo whenever the mood strikes, but when you want to recharge, the space actually lets you do that. The bathroom’s been updated recently too, which sounds boring but honestly matters so much when you’re dealing with summer heat and long walking days. Good water pressure, modern fixtures, but they’ve kept these beautiful original tiles that tie everything together. It’s got that 4-star polish without feeling sterile or impersonal, and with ratings consistently in the high 8s, other travelers are clearly picking up on the same vibe I did.

What could be improved: Nothing that we did g like – but there were no welcoming items or water in the fridgeBruna from Portugal – 26 September 2024 (9/10)
We love it. good location in a quiet place but close to the center. The commoditties are great and the host is always available for anything. We had a small problem in the shower but they quickly resolved it and even left more coffee capsules.

Exactly as advertised l.
Hristiyana from Bulgaria – 1 July 2024 (8/10)
Good location, clean, quiet
What could be improved: Self check in explicitly stated and reminded it is until 7 pm, which I did not really understand, considering it is with a code.
On the checkout morning, a guy came even 5 minutes before 10 am to start cleaning, which was not too nice, you always have some buffer time of 30 munites, especially in such early checkouts on a Sunday.Ju from United Kingdom – 17 February 2024 (9/10)
sweet home
easy for check in
What could be improved: The drain is clogged
and the shower door can’t close properlyArmand from Albania – 30 October 2023 (9/10)
The apartment was very good overall. The location was great, you can reach walking almost all main sites of the city. The main sleeping room was good enough with very comfy bed and the other sleeping room was small but quite enough for two kids (even two adults can sleep but the room was small).
What could be improved: Opening main door is an automatic process by calling a number (just ringing it), but it may happen for different reasons you can not make a call in Roaming or you may run out of phone battery (me personally had trouble with my operator and couldn't make outgoing calls), probably a solution with code is much better than with calls. However, the hosts were very friendly and ready to help for any trouble.Sara from Ireland – 1 October 2023 (8/10)
