Hotel Leon d’Oro Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Hotel Leon d’Oro, I wasn’t expecting much from a 4-star place, but this one actually surprised me in the best way. The lobby has this warm, old-world Italian charm that feels authentic rather than trying too hard, you know? Dark wood everywhere, but not in a stuffy way – more like your sophisticated Italian uncle’s house if he had really good taste.
The rooms are what I’d call “properly comfortable” – nothing flashy, but everything works exactly as it should. The beds are actually firm (thank god, because I’m so tired of sinking into hotel mattresses like quicksand), and the bathrooms have that European efficiency thing down pat. Small but perfectly functional, with decent water pressure and those little toiletries that don’t smell like industrial cleaner. What really got me though was the attention to details – like, the curtains actually block out light completely, and there are enough outlets near the bed that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and having a bedside lamp.
The breakfast situation is solid without being overwhelming. They do this thing where everything feels fresh rather than sitting under heat lamps for hours – you can tell someone’s actually paying attention in the kitchen. The coffee’s strong enough to wake the dead, which honestly saved my life most mornings. I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s the kind of reliable good that makes you feel like you’re starting the day right. The staff genuinely seems to care about what they’re doing too, which you notice more when you’ve stayed in places where people clearly hate their jobs. Here, they remember your name after the first day and actually mean it when they ask how your day was. The whole place just has this relaxed professionalism – like they know they’re good at what they do but don’t need to make a big show of it. At an 8.0 rating, it’s exactly what you’d hope for from a solid 4-star – comfortable, reliable, and pleasant without any nasty surprises.

This hotel offers spacious and well-maintained rooms with a classic design. The location is convenient, close to public transport and the city center. The breakfast selection was excellent, with fresh and tasty options. The staff was welcoming and ensured a pleasant stay. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Verona.

Near to bus/train station
What could be improved: Could do with better signage en route for walkers from station. Ditch the coffee machines and provide flasks of coffee.Arben from Albania – 23 September 2024 (9/10)
The hotel was excellent, but they did not adhere to the conditions of our Booking.com reservation.
What could be improved: We had reserved a room for two people with separate beds, but we were placed in a room with a double bed instead. We booked through Booking.com and paid all the necessary taxes, yet we were unexpectedly charged an additional 15 euros per person for taxes. We’re confused about why the room was changed and why we incurred extra charges!Ana from Germany – 14 June 2024 (8/10)
The hotel is great! Very comfortable, nice breakfast, with private parking (payed) which was perfect to leave the car there and go out the next full day and pick it up in the afternoon.
Also, when there is traffic, there is a street just outside of the hotel, that brings you to a street without much traffic.
There is also a close supermarket.
What could be improved: Nothing I can remember.
