Il Cuscino di Giulietta – 2 min from Arena Overview

Walking up to Il Cuscino di Giulietta – 2 min from Arena for the first time, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect – the name literally means “Juliet’s pillow,” which sounds a bit cheesy until you realize you’re actually two minutes from Verona’s famous Roman amphitheater. And I mean literally two minutes of leisurely strolling, not that travel website nonsense where they measure “as the crow flies.”

What struck me right away was how this 3-star place manages to feel genuinely local rather than touristy, despite being practically next door to one of Italy’s biggest attractions. The building has that worn-in elegance you find in older Italian cities – nothing flashy, but everything feels authentic. You know what’s brilliant about the location? You can actually hear the buzz from Arena events (opera season gets pretty lively), but it’s not obnoxious – more like this exciting background energy that reminds you where you are. I stayed during a quieter period in late October, and honestly, it was perfect for wandering the nearby streets without fighting crowds.

The rooms themselves are comfortable in that unpretentious way – clean, well-maintained, with decent-sized windows that let in proper light. I mean, it’s not luxury, but the 8.3 rating makes sense because everything works and the staff actually seems to care about getting things right. The shower had good pressure (always a gamble in older European buildings), and the bed was genuinely comfortable – which matters when you’ve spent the day walking on ancient cobblestones. What I really appreciated was how they handle the tourist location thing… there’s no pushy concierge trying to sell you overpriced tours, just helpful suggestions when you ask. They pointed me toward this little osteria about five minutes away that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it ended up being one of my best meals in Verona.

Here’s the practical stuff that actually matters: check-in was smooth even when I arrived earlier than expected, there’s decent WiFi throughout, and – this is key – the area feels safe walking around at night. You’re close enough to the main tourist zone that there are always people around, but far enough from the real party spots that you can actually sleep. Parking‘s typical for Italian city centers (meaning complicated), but they’ll give you actual useful advice about where to leave your car if you’re driving. The whole experience just felt… well, like staying somewhere that locals might actually recommend to their friends visiting from out of town, rather than a place that exists purely for tourists passing through.

Verona hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in this UNESCO World Heritage city, known for its romantic atmosphere, Roman architecture, and world-class opera performances.

Reviews of Il Cuscino di Giulietta – 2 min from Arena

  • Jihane from France – 16 February 2025 (7/10)

    Great location clean property.

What could be improved: Noise. If you’re a light sleeper I wouldn’t recommend unless you would like to be woken up at 7 Am by neighbours stamping.

  • Claire from Austria – 10 February 2025 (9/10)

Really great location just steps away from historical monuments and great restaurants / bars. We were two friends staying for just two nights so can´t really comment on the facilities but it looked as if everything was there for cooking (microwave, stove hob etc). Really easy check-in details and Dalila was quick to respond to all questions before arrival.

  • Cristina from Moldova – 28 January 2025 (9/10)

Everything. Excellent location. Clean and comfortable apartment, ideal for two.
Easy and responsive communication with Dalila.

  • Nasuf from Italy – 13 October 2024 (9/10)

It was very clean and comfortable, there was everything we needed

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Jen from United States – 12 July 2024 (8/10)

Everything with check in was super easy and hosts were very responsive.

What could be improved: More cooking utensils/pots in the kitchen would have been helpful, but it was adequate and most people probably eat out.

  • Rachel from United Kingdom – 10 July 2024 (4/10)

Charming little self contained apartment in a great location

What could be improved: It had not been prepared for my visit. No checking up had been done by the managers.
There was no key in the safelock when I arrived alone after traveling all day and it took 2 hours to sort.
Vacuuming was poor- there were bits on the rug
3/5 bulbs were out in the bathroom
The light over the table was dust laden.
    The fridge was frosted up.
Inadequate First Aid tin- no plasters.

  • Tracey from United Kingdom – 30 June 2024 (9/10)

The location could not have been better for a solo traveller going to the opera xx

What could be improved: The stairs – could be my fault for not reading properly but the stairs were a surprise

  • Robert from United Kingdom – 16 March 2024 (9/10)

Lovely apartment in a fantastic location. Walking distance to the railway station, all the sites and superb restaurants. The bed is really comfortable and the decor stylish. Nice kitchen and useful washing machine. We would definitely stay there again.

What could be improved: Not much at all – a cooking knife and dish cloth in the kitchen would be useful.

  • Spalemar from Serbia – 4 January 2024 (7/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Not clean, no blankets and pillows for bed in living room, no shampoo and soap.
Vacum cleaner was broke so we couldnt clean apartment by ourselves because carpet was full of dog or cats hair.

  • Ken from Ireland – 29 April 2023 (9/10)

Beautiful apartment in the perfect location, within walking distance of all major attractions and only 20 minutes stroll to the train station. Quiet, comfortable and secure, a very enjoyable stay. Recommended.
