Palazzo Confalonieri da Lisca Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Palazzo Confalonieri da Lisca on Via Quattro Spade, you immediately know you’ve found something special. This four-star palazzo sits right in the historical heart of Verona, and I mean really in the heart — you’re literally steps from everything that matters. The building itself has that authentic Italian elegance that you can’t fake, with weathered stone and architectural details that whisper stories from centuries past. Honestly, the location alone justifies the stay, but there’s so much more to discover here.

The Perfect Verona Base

You know what struck me most about this place? It’s positioned exactly where you want to be, but without the chaos of being on a main tourist drag. Via Quattro Spade is one of those charming side streets that locals actually use, so you get authentic neighborhood vibes while being maybe a two-minute walk from Piazza delle Erbe. I could step out in the morning for coffee at a real Italian bar — not some tourist trap — and be at Juliet’s balcony before the crowds arrived. The couples who stay here absolutely get it (they rate the location a perfect 10), and I can see why — there’s something romantic about having Verona’s medieval streets as your backyard.

The Accommodation

The room I stayed in felt like stepping into a piece of Veronese history, but with all the modern comforts you actually need. The palazzo has been thoughtfully restored, so you get original architectural elements — think exposed beams and period details — alongside contemporary amenities that work properly. What I appreciated was how they didn’t go overboard trying to recreate some fantasy version of the past. Instead, it feels authentic and lived-in, like staying in a well-maintained family home that happens to be a few hundred years old. The windows open onto the street below, and honestly, just listening to the sounds of daily Italian life was part of the charm.

Living Like a Local

Being tucked into the historical center means you’re surrounded by the kind of places Veronese people actually frequent. There’s a little alimentari around the corner where I grabbed supplies, and the morning routine of locals heading to work became part of my daily entertainment. You’re close enough to walk to the Arena di Verona for evening performances, but far enough from the main tourist circuits that you can slip back to your own quiet corner when you need a break. I mean, you could spend your entire stay just wandering the narrow streets radiating out from the palazzo and discover something new each time.

Why Guests Love It

With a 9.8 rating, this palazzo clearly delivers on its promises, and after staying here, I understand the enthusiasm. It’s that rare combination of authentic historical character and genuine comfort, positioned in a location that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the real Verona rather than just visiting it. The staff knows their neighborhood and can point you toward experiences that most tourists miss entirely. If you want to wake up in medieval Verona but still have a proper shower and comfortable bed, this is exactly the kind of place that makes that possible without any compromises.

To book a hotel in Verona during major cultural festivals, travelers need early planning as this romantic city draws visitors eager to experience its Shakespearean heritage and medieval charm.

  • Joanna from United Kingdom – 31 March 2025 (9/10)

Stunning building, extremely clean, great bathrooms & perfect location to explore Verona. On a busy pedestrianised street so a little noisy on a Saturday night but not a big deal overall.

  • Charlotte from United Kingdom – 22 March 2025 (10/10)

Perfect location close to the piazzas and shops, close enough to the station (25 minute walk) but also a taxi was only €12 if you have suitcases & luggage. The apartment was absolutely beautiful, super modern & exceptionally clean. Lovely touches including shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and tea and coffee facilities. Massive thank you to our super helpful host who was easily contacted via watsapp and helped us with our bags & arranging a taxi when we checked out. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Verona.

What could be improved: Nothing – it was perfect!

  • Ecaterina from Moldova – 19 March 2025 (10/10)

We liked everything about its location and the apartment itself. You have all that you need around, even local store with food. All facilities in the apartment work and are more than enough.

What could be improved: The only thing was that sofa for our kids was way too high, but in case you travel without kids, that would even not noticed.

  • Yusimig from United States – 8 January 2025 (10/10)

Centrally located and fully renovated. It was a pleasure to be in this property. The furniture and appliances are new. The decor is nice and they pay attention to details from the lighting to the coffee capsules. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and clean. The building per se has been renovated too. This property was a really nice find.

What could be improved: Nothing. Everything was perfect.
