Relais Villa dei Gelsi & Spa Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Relais Villa dei Gelsi & Spa, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another countryside retreat. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you completely. This four-star property has that rare quality where everything just works without trying too hard, and after spending a few days there, I actually found myself already planning my return visit.
The spa element here isn’t just some afterthought addition – it’s genuinely integrated into the whole experience. I mean, you can literally smell the essential oils and hear the soft music drifting through the common areas, which sounds cheesy but somehow isn’t. The treatment rooms are tucked away in what feels like a separate wing, so you’re not dealing with people in bathrobes wandering around the main lobby (thank goodness). What really got me was the attention to small details – thick towels that are actually warm, water that’s the perfect temperature, staff who remember your name after one conversation. The massage I had there was honestly one of those experiences where you lose track of time completely.
The villa itself has this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake. You know how some places try too hard to look authentic? This isn’t that. The rooms have character without being cluttered, and the beds are ridiculously comfortable – I’m talking about the kind where you wake up and immediately want to test your own mattress at home. Breakfast is served in this bright room with windows that frame the gardens perfectly, and they actually make their pastries fresh each morning (you can tell because the kitchen smells amazing by 7 AM). The whole property feels intimate without being cramped – maybe 20 rooms total, so you’re not fighting crowds for anything. Parking was easy, check-in was smooth, and honestly, the only minor thing I’d mention is that the WiFi can be a bit spotty in some of the garden areas, but if you’re coming here to work constantly, you’re kind of missing the point anyway. With a 9.6 rating, this place clearly knows what it’s doing, and after staying there myself, I completely understand why people keep coming back.

Best views of Verona, amazing and quiet spot and incredibly well furnished and cared place. Two swimming pools add to the idea of a Citycation. Verona few minutes away and all the quiet of the countryside.

When a place is cared for by the owner and the staff respect the owner you can feel that type of love in every communication and every detail. Our family loved being here and sharing Verona from this space.

Quite and elegant
What could be improved: There was a free dog on the premisesGeorge from United Kingdom – 30 September 2024 (9/10)
Facilities and staff was amazing, considering my flight was late on the day of check out the hotel managed to accommodate me on such short notice and let me have the room until later on in the day.
I would highly recommend but book and vehicle as taxis can be a nightmare to get in Verona.Jasmin from United States – 23 September 2024 (10/10)
Everything about my stay was perfect. It was super quiet and calm and comfortable. I wanted to stay an extra day! The staff were super friendly and welcoming to me and my little dog. The chef even baked me a special gluten free oatmeal cake for breakfast! It made me feel seen and heard and welcomed. Get the fresh juices and omelette and the strong cappucino. So many gluten free options for breakfast, as I am intolerant. Also, I loved the smell of roses and other flowers on the property. It was fun to stay at a dog friendly property.
What could be improved: I really wanted to swim in the pools, but I am a sissy for cold water. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. I love that you can swim 24/7, in case you have jet lag. The sauna closes at 11pm, when reception closes.Siobhan from United Kingdom – 23 August 2024 (10/10)

Fantastic location in the nature but still close to the city. Perfect to relax and lounge outside and in the salt water pool.

The rooms are gorgeous, comfy beds, delicious, beautiful gardens. We really felt relaxed and well looked after during our stay here. I would highly recommend this boutique hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful with taxis and information of taxis, sites and places to eat, thank you for looking after us and ensuring we got the most out of our stay.
