Residenza Palazzo Negri Overview
First Impressions
Walking down the narrow cobblestone path of Vicolo San Matteo, you’d almost miss Residenza Palazzo Negri if you weren’t looking for it — and that’s exactly what makes it so special. This four-star boutique property sits tucked away in Verona’s Città Antica, literally steps from Juliet’s House but worlds away from the tourist chaos. The entrance feels like you’re being welcomed into someone’s elegant private home rather than checking into a hotel, which honestly sets the tone for everything that follows.
Location Magic
I mean, you really can’t get more central than this without sleeping in Piazza delle Erbe itself. The location score of 9.9 isn’t just marketing fluff — you’re genuinely in the heart of everything that matters in Verona. Juliet’s balcony is a two-minute walk, the Roman Arena is maybe five minutes if you stroll slowly, and you know what? The best part is ducking back into this quiet little street when the day-trippers head home. Couples absolutely love it here, and I get why — there’s something incredibly romantic about having your own secret hideaway in one of Italy’s most beautiful cities.
The Rooms
The beds here are honestly something else — they’ve got this reputation for being incredibly comfortable, and it’s well-deserved. Each room feels like it was designed with actual thought rather than just filling space with generic hotel furniture. The palazzo has been carefully restored, so you get these beautiful period details like exposed beams and original stonework, but everything works perfectly (the Wi-Fi, the air conditioning, all that practical stuff you actually need). The bathrooms are modern and well-appointed, which is always a relief in historic Italian buildings where sometimes you’re not sure what you’re going to get.
The Experience
What really strikes you about staying here is how it feels like you’re living in Verona rather than just visiting it. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out — they’ll point you toward the little wine bar around the corner that locals actually frequent, or suggest the perfect time to visit the Arena when the crowds thin out. There’s no restaurant on-site, but honestly, you don’t need one when you’re surrounded by some of the best dining in the Veneto region. The reception area doubles as a sort of informal concierge service, and they’re genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it strikes that perfect balance between historic charm and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find. You’re staying in a real palazzo with centuries of history, but you’re not sacrificing comfort or convenience for the experience. The location means you can explore Verona on foot, pop back for an afternoon rest, then head out for aperitivo without any planning or logistics. It’s the kind of place where you actually feel like you’ve discovered something special rather than just booked another hotel room — and in a city as popular as Verona, that’s worth quite a lot.

What could be improved: Everything was great!Francisco from United States – 4 February 2025 (10/10)
The place is super well located run the middle of every thing, The rooms are very large clean and comfy, Luisa answered all my questions very fast and she speaks perfect Spanish, English and of course Italian and maybe another language, I would rent this place again if I go to Verona again.
What could be improved: The only but is that some rooms are in the 3rd floor and no elevator so if you have large luggage it can be an issue,
But they were very nice and helped us with it going out. There are other rooms in the 2nd floor.Francisco from United States – 14 January 2025 (10/10)
We rented 3 rooms they were very spacious clean and confortable, Luisa the host is the best, she was so attentive and fast in all que questions. She is by far the best host I have ever met.
The place is great situated if you have a car you can unload and load the luggage just in front, and then there is parking very close by. The only thing you have to be aware of is that there is not elevator so you will have to take the luggage up the stairs.
What could be improved: Nothing every thing was greatClaire from United Kingdom – 29 November 2024 (10/10)
The room was absolutely magnificent, spacious, with soaring high ceilings, and decorated in a stunning Italian style that made it feel truly special. From the bed, you can gaze up at the beautiful painting on the ceiling, which adds a magical touch to the experience. The hot tub in the room was romantic, and simply fantastic for a relaxing and memorable stay.
The bed was large and extremely comfortable, and we loved the quirky details throughout the room. The shower is in the bathroom, but there’s a window that opens from the main room into the shower area, creating a fun and distinctive layout.
The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of the historical center. It’s just steps away from all the main attractions, picturesque streets, and incredible restaurants serving fantastic food.
The host was very friendly and easy to communicate with, making the entire experience smooth and welcoming. The property was easy to find, and the value for money was outstanding. Despite the size of the room, it was warm and the heating is good.
We absolutely loved our stay, the room was a dream—thank you for such a wonderful experience!Karen from Australia – 3 November 2024 (9/10)

Our stay at Residenza Palazzo Negri was truly exceptional. The host went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Their kindness and helpfulness made us feel right at home.
The rooms were spacious, immaculately clean, and perfectly located. We were able to easily walk to all the major attractions within 10-15 minutes.
As digital nomads, reliable WiFi is essential. We were thrilled with the fast and stable internet connection, which allowed us to work seamlessly with our US clients. The overall cleanliness of the facilities was impressive. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We rented 2 rooms one for me and my wife and the second for the inlaws and their room, service and area was just a clean and nice as ours. This is the second time we are here and things are always on the up and up as well as the service has always been nice.
