Hotel Description

I’ll never forget pulling up to Suite Antico Seminario on that narrow cobblestone street – Via Seminario, right smack in the heart of Verona’s historic center. It’s tucked away in what used to be an old seminary, you know, one of those ancient buildings that whisper stories from the Renaissance era. Honestly, arriving after a long drive from Milan, I was a bit frazzled – parking in Verona can be a nightmare, especially around here where the streets are pedestrian-only zones most of the day. But the hotel sorted it out with a nearby spot they reserve for guests, which saved me from circling like a lost tourist. Stepping inside, the place hits you with this warm, lived-in vibe – think exposed brick walls that feel cool under your fingertips, and that faint scent of aged wood mixed with fresh lavender from the little courtyard garden. My suite was on the upper floor (no elevator, mind you, so pack light if stairs aren’t your thing), but once I opened the door, it was all worth it: high ceilings, antique furnishings that aren’t stuffy – like this massive four-poster bed that swallowed me up after a day of exploring – and modern touches like a rainfall shower that actually works without the usual Italian plumbing drama. Oh, and the views – peeking out over rooftops toward the Duomo, with its bells chiming softly in the evenings, sort of like a personal soundtrack to your stay.

What really sets this place apart, though, is how it blends right into Verona’s rhythm without feeling touristy. I mean, you’re literally steps from Piazza delle Erbe, where locals grab their morning espresso at those tiny cafés – I wandered over one foggy autumn morning and snagged a cornetto that was still warm from the oven. The hotel’s not huge, just a handful of suites, so it feels intimate, like staying in a friend’s elegantly restored apartment rather than some chain. Breakfast is simple but spot-on – fresh pastries, local cheeses, and coffee that packs a punch – served in that sunny courtyard when the weather’s nice, which it often is in spring before the summer crowds descend. Speaking of which, if you come in July or August, brace for the bustle from the Arena’s opera season; the streets get lively at night, but the thick walls here keep things surprisingly quiet – I slept like a baby even with the faint hum of distant chatter. There’s no full restaurant, which is a minor bummer if you’re lazy after sightseeing, but honestly, who needs it when you’re a quick stroll from spots like Osteria del Bugiardo on Via Mazzini for some authentic Amarone wine and risotto? The staff, well, they’re the real gems – this one guy at check-in chatted about hidden paths along the Adige River for a sunset walk, the kind of tip you won’t find in guidebooks.

All in all, if you’re after a slice of Verona that feels genuine – not the glossy postcard version, but the one with creaky floors and church bells waking you gently – this is your spot. It’s got that 4-star polish with a 9.3 rating that’s well-earned, but it’s the little things, like curling up with a book in the lounge while rain patters on the tiles, that make you linger. Sure, it’s not the cheapest (expect to pay a premium for the location), but for a romantic escape or even a solo recharge, it’s hard to beat. I left feeling like I’d uncovered a secret – and trust me, in a city as enchanting as Verona, that’s saying something.

This is a really comfortable, modern apartment, beautifully renovated. The kitchen has everything you could need, the bathroom is big and the two bedrooms are comfortable. There are some lovely cafes and restaurants within walking distance, especially Dolciaria Cantonucci for coffee around the corner.

What could be improved: Since the master bedroom door doesn't close, proper light blocking curtains on the kitchen window would be nice. Better instructions on how to use the washing machine would be awesome. We wasted a lot of time on this. Once we worked out the express wash it was excellent. Yes the unit is on a busy corner and directly after a set of lights but the annoying motorcycles become scarce after 10pm and we slept ok. The second bedroom is quieter.

  • István from Hungary – 22 July 2024 (9/10)

The whole flat is perfect as they said. Big spaces, nice furnitures, easy access to downtown. Pretty nice cafe's around. A parking garage is only 5 minutes walk away.

What could be improved: The only downside is the windows. The apartment is newly renovated but the windows let almost every sound in from the street.

  • Eleonora from United Kingdom – 8 April 2024 (10/10)

The property is confortable ,beautiful interiors, the beds were so confortable everything curated. We loved how the storical features of the place were integrsted to the renovation. Wide space, wide doors. Fully equiped
The location is our favourite in Verona. 5 min walk to everything.

What could be improved: Nothing. We loved it.

  • Zilvinas from Lithuania – 8 December 2023 (10/10)

The stay was simply perfect. Location is great, you can reach the old town in a short walk. The place itself is very spacious, and tastefully decorated, a perfect mixture between modern facilities and keeping the spirit of the original building details.

  • Paul from United Kingdom – 15 May 2024 (9/10)

Location good. A short walk to the river, then into the centre of the old town. Plenty of local bars, food takeaways, cafes etc. A couple of local grocery stores just a few metres away, and an excellent fruit and vegetable store a short walk away.
Luigi was an excellent host and answered a couple of questions we had.

What could be improved: Some traffic noise but this is Italy and everyone uses their horns.

  • Roberta from Italy – 4 April 2025 (10/10)

  • Alejandro from Spain – 25 March 2025 (9/10)

  • Davide from Italy – 5 October 2024 (10/10)

Appartamento bello, spazioso, pulito, comodo per gli spostamenti in quanto è in pieno centro città

  • Satu from Finland – 27 September 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: Tervetuliaiskori puuttui…

  • Mirela from Italy – 12 August 2024 (10/10)
